August 17 Rochester NY card!
By Bob Caico
Ron Resnick’s "Boxing at the Roc" series continues this summer with an eight bout professional card on Wednesday August 17. The show will be held outside at Rochester’s Frontier Field home of the minor league baseball Triple A Red Wings and will have a hometown flavor with five Rochester area fighters on the card. Four Buffalo area boxers will be making their closest professional fighting appearances of their careers. The main event will pit two young, exciting fighters from the WNY area. Francisco “El Gato” Figueroa (11-2) now fighting out of Rochester will meet Buffalo’s Hector Alejandro, Jr. (10-1) for the vacant New York State Jr. Welterweight Championship. Former world title challenger Robert "Pushup" Frazier will take on Virgil McClendon in an eight round bout. NYS Welterweight Champion Russell Jordan will take on Buffalo's Henry Humphrey in another eight round contest. A third eight-rounder will feature Niagara Falls' sensation Nick Casal who sports an 11-0 record with every win failing to reach the distance. (More)
