Productions Undefeated Future Stars
Making Noise: Dulorme, Del Valle, Franco, More!
Gary Shaw Productions
has a fantastic stable of undefeated fighters making their mark
in the boxing world. Five made the cut on ESPN’s Super 25
prospect list, created by Dan Rafael. Shaw co-promotes some of
his fighters with other top promoters like Lou DiBella, Javier
Bustillo and Leon Margules. Below are Dan Rafael’s write up’s on
Shaw’s rising stars.
Luis Orlando Del Valle (24, junior featherweight, Lou
DiBella/Gary Shaw, 14-0, 11 KOs): Puerto Rico’s Del Valle, who
lives in New York, lost his first amateur fight at age 14 but
wound up going 112-14 and earning a National Golden Gloves title
before turning pro in 2008. He has excellent hand speed and is
efficient with his punches. He has a high knockout percentage
but is more of a sharp puncher than a crushing puncher. He
scores his knockouts with an accumulation of well-placed shots.
In his most notable fight, which aired on “ShoBox” in June, he
hammered credible Dat Nguyen in a lopsided 10-round decision
with an excellent performance that stole the show. Click Here For More

Vic Darchinyan set
to fight for
world bantamweight title in Japan
Always seeking the
best possible fights on the planet, former multiple world
champion, Vic "Raging Bull" Darchinyan (37-4-1, 27 KOs) has
finalized negotiations to challenge Japan's undefeated WBC
bantamweight titlist, Shinsuke Yamanaka (15-0-2, 11 KOs) in the
spring.
Promoter Gary Shaw stated, "Contracts have been signed, sealed
and delivered. The fight is finalized and will take place in
Tokyo, Japan sometime in April. Nothing makes me more proud than
having a throwback fighter like Darchinyan, who will take risks
and step in the ring with anyone, anywhere. Yamanaka will be
defending his belt in his native land so Vic's got to go in
there and put it on him. I believe Darchinyan's power punching
style will lead him to victory." Click Here For More

Andre Dirrell
Returns,
Stops Cunningham in Two Rounds
By Jake Donovan -
boxingscene.com
Later this evening at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon,
California, Jermain Taylor returns to the ring for the first
time in more than two years when he faces Jessie Nicklow in the
main event of a Showtime-televised tripleheader.
Andre Dirrell made his own ring return, fighting for the first
time in 21 months as he took out fellow Michigan super
middleweight Darryl Cunningham in just two rounds.
The fight never threatened to be competitive, as Dirrell was in
control from the opening bell. There were no signs of ring rust
from the Super Six dropout, who threw every punch with knockout
intentions, which eventually produced the early result.

Pedraza knocks
Quartey out and wins world title
Last night, super prospect, Jose "Sniper" Pedraza (6-0, 5KO's),
continued steadily in professional ranks by providing a
technical knockout to Ghanaian Herbert Quartey (7-7, 5KO's), at
1:20 of the fifth round, with a strong body shot. With this
victory, Pedraza is the newly crowned world youth champion of
the World Boxing Council, at 130 pounds.
During the fight, Pedraza, dominated Quartey with his apparent
and superior ability and in the fifth assault capitalized his
domination by connecting a left hook to the body Quartey, which
made him instantly hit the canvas, and the referee observed that
the Ghanaian had no way to return and defend against a superior
opponent.Click Here For More

Shaw Rips Angulo,
"He Truly Is A Dog!"
By William Trillo
Of all the great boxing action this weekend the fight that was
most talked about on Sunday was the James Kirkland vs. Alfredo
Angulo Jr. Middleweight brawl. There was no one who I wanted to
talk to more than Angulo’s former promoter Gary Shaw. I got in
touch with him Sunday afternoon and Shaw had plenty to say about
the night in Cancun Mexico.
Pound4Pound: You know Gary; I couldn’t help but think of you as
I watched Angulo punch himself out in the first round of his
fight against Kirkland on Saturday night.
Gary Shaw: First of all a real professional should not punch
himself out in one round. He should be able to go 12 hard rounds
unless you have not trained. A guy like Pacquiao throws a lot
more punches than that every round. Click Here For More
Gary Shaw: "Angulo
Reminded Me Of Jeff Lacy...
He Will Never Be The Same Fighter"
By Ben Thompson
"Angulo reminded me of Jeff Lacy. He never gave John Beninati
and GSP [Gary Shaw Productions] credit for rounding up the right
opponents in his career. We all knew who Angulo was...No
professional fighter at that level should shoot an entire load
in one round to where you're done for the rest of the fight. You
know, that's not true. Pacquiao throws a lot of punches, a lot,
and he's not done. There are other fighters that are more
conservative in their punches, but to me, it's all about good
karma...Angulo was just not a good person and good karma beat
him...That fight was set up for Angulo. It was to sacrifice
Kirkland. I think Golden Boy is in shock today, Miller must be
in shock today, and Cameron must be in shock today, you know,
because the wrong guy won. I mean, if you think Kirkland is what
he is, you don't bring him to Mexico to the fight. Now we'll see
if HBO goes back there for Angulo. We'll see how fast they're
running back for Angulo. I don't believe Angulo will ever be the
same. Just like Lacy was never the same, he will never be the
same fighter," stated promoter Gary Shaw, who shared his
thoughts on this past Saturday's barnburner between James
Kirkland and Alfredo Angulo, two fighters that Shaw once
promoted. You don't want to miss what else he had to say. Check
it out! Click Here For More
Big Gary Shaw Lets
Angulo Have It
By Stephen "Breadman"
Edwards
I'm going to start off with a tough question. Why has some of
your top fighters over the past few years left you. James
Kirkland, Alfredo Angulo and Tim Bradley?: Well first of all
when you're telling the truth there are no tough questions.
There are alot of reasons fighters leave. First off, I'm not a
self promoter. I didn't get in this game so much to make money,
I do it for the love of the game. I'm one of the few promoters
who actually fall in love with the fighters.
You have promoters who come in and actually attempt to steal
fighters from me. You also have managers like Cameron Dunkin who
is my bitter enemy who will do anything to take fighters away
from me. He led Nonito Donaire and James Kirkland away from me.
I knew when Tim Bradley signed with Dunkin that our days were
numbered with him. Click Here For More

Gary Shaw Reacts To
WBC Ruling
By William Trillo
Promoter Gary Shaw is out of the country but when the WBC made
their ruling in regard to the Dawson vs. Hopkins debacle we felt
it was important to get his immediate thouhts so we gave Mr.
Shaw a call and he was quick to oblige our request.
When asked about the ruling that the fight would be declared a
Technical Draw and Hopkins would keep his WBC Belt Shaw said,
“Obviously this is their (the WBC’s) ruling and I honestly can’t
do anything about it, I personally don’t think the board did
right. The whole controversy is that Hopkins fouled first, he
was all over Chad’s back and neck and if Chad’s neck got hurt he
would have been told to continue. So the question is, did
Hopkins foul Chad first? In my estimation he did!” Click Here For More

"Like with Team Puerto Rico," Shaw said, "I'm also involved with

talented boxers such as Prescott and Romero. Alex Camponovo, Ken
(Thompson) and I work very well together and we're signing the
best Colombian fighters to showcase in the United States. We

Chad’s The Rightful Champ
By Carlos Cordoba -
Pound4Pound.com
Chad Dawson captured the WBC and Ring Magazine light heavyweight
titles in the most controversial of ways this past Saturday
night in the main event of “Believe It or Not,” presented by
Golden Boy Promotions in association with Gary Shaw Promotions,
Cerveza Tecate, and AT&T. The action was broadcast live on HBO
PPV from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. Referee Pat
Russell handed Dawson a technical knockout victory at the 2:48
mark of round number two.
Chad Dawson, 29, crouched in a defensive position decided to
lounge his shoulder forward, an act that is common in
professional boxing. He did so after Hopkins let loose with a
straight right that was unsuccessful. Hopkins momentum carried
him forward onto Chad Dawson’s back. Consequently, Dawson
reacted by shrugging him off with his shoulders. Hopkins falls
back, first landing on his feet then falling to the ground. This
is where the action stopped and the commotion began. Click Here For More
Electrifying
heavyweight Kimbo Slice, aka Kevin Ferguson, needed only 1:52 to
register a phenomenal knockout of Tay Bledsoe in tonight’s main
event on the “Rumble In The Heartland” card, presented by Gary
Shaw Productions and Legacy Communications, at Heartland Events
Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Slice (2-0, 2 KOs), who is co-promoted by Gary Shaw and Tony
Holden, continued to show improvement in the ring with
world-class trainer John David Jackson in his corner. The former
Internet combat fighting sensation came out fast and ended the
night with a powerful, one-punch overhand right, stopping
Bledsoe who remained motionless for several minutes. Slice’s
first pro fight lasted only 17 seconds. Click Here For More
Believe It Or Not
Lives Up To It’s Challenge!
B-Hop Gives Dawson The Cold Shoulder
By William Trillo,
Carlos Cordoba & Bret Newton - Pound4Pound.com
Ripley himself may not believe what transpired in the ring in
Los Angles as The light heavyweight title fight between Bernard
Hopkins (52-6-2,32 KO’s) and Chad Dawson (31-1,18 KO’s) became
nothing more than a circus sideshow that left all the patrons
(paid or not) chanting cries of Bull Sh*t and worse after Chad
Dawson was handed a interesting (to say the least) 2nd round
TKO.
Why were they crying you ask?
Because after a round that was light on action Bernard and Chad
went at it in round 2 for more of the same. Around the 2:48 mark
of the round Hopkins was on top of Chad’s shoulder and Dawson
pitched Hopkins off his shoulder and down through the ropes.
Hopkins immediately grabbed his shoulder and told the ref he
could not continue.
After a minute or two of Bernard rolling around on the canvas
referee Pat Russell called an end to the fight and awarded
Dawson a TKO victory. The crowd went into a tizzy and no matter
which fighter addressed the crowd afterward they were met with
an equal amount of uproar and boos. No one was happy and they
let their displeasure be known!
I guess it’s a good thing the promoters had to give most of the
tickets away to fill the house…at least no one will be asking
for their money back.
DeMarco Victory
Bathed In Linares Blood
By William Trillo,
Carlos Cordoba & Bret Newton - Pound4Pound.com
Lightweight Antonio DeMarco (26-1, 19 KO’s) chopped-up Jorge
Linares (31-2, 20 KO’s ) for 11 rounds and Linares gave back
almost as much as he got in a fight that will go down as an all
time classic. This was much more than just a simple give and
take battle as both tough warriors gave every ounce of their
courage and blood. Through the first few rounds it appeared
Linares was going to be in control but a small cut on the bridge
of his nose turned into a huge gash that proved to be the
beginning of his demise. DeMarco saw the blood flowing and
seized his moment, stopping the favorite Linares with a barrage
of punches at the 2:32 mark of round 11. Judges’ scorecards
revealed that Linares was clearly ahead at the time of the
stoppage 99-91, and 98-92 twice making the victory by DeMarco
all the more improbable. With the win Demarco takes home the
time WBC lightweight title.

It is hard to believe what WBC and Ring Magazine Light
Heavyweight World Champion Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins has
achieved during his 23-year long professional career. He was the
middleweight champion for ten years, notched a record 20
successful title defenses of that crown and at 46-years-old, has
become the oldest fighter in boxing history to win a world

Sylvester's Title Via Split Decision
Boxingtalk
Daniel Geale W12 Sebastian Sylvester... In Germany, the IBF
middleweight title has changed hands, thus dispelling the notion
that visitors cannot win a decision in that country. Australia's
Daniel Geale came on in the championship rounds and took
Sebastian Sylvester's title by split decision. The official
scores were all over the board: American judge Steve Epstein
scored it 118-110 and Britain's Marcus McDonnell saw it 116-112,
both for Geale, overruling Denmark's Berit Andreasen, who had it
118-110 for Sylvester. Geale is now 25-1 with his lone loss
coming by split decision to Anthony Mundine in 2009. Sylvester

What do Marvin Hagler,
Frank Tate, Michael Nunn, James Toney, Roy Jones Jr., Bernard
Hopkins, Jermain Taylor and Arthur Abraham share in common? They
were all IBF Middleweight Champions. Sebastian Sylvester

he wants to successfully defend his title for the fourth time.
He will meet IBF World Rankings number one Daniel Geale (24-1,

Hopkins, Taylor, Abraham etc. - they are all illustrious names.
And I am proud to be one of them. I think that a triumph on
Saturday would take me another step further forwards. I want to
show that I deserve to be among this group of names, and leave
the ring victorious as the IBF Champion against Daniel Geale,”
said the confident title holder on Wednesday at a press

Gary Shaw Says Amir
Khan-Tim Bradley Clash
“Is Done” For July 23rd -
So Long As Khan Gets Past Paul McCloskey
By James Slater - eastsideboxing
Both fighters have wanted it, and have been calling for it for a

July 23rd, at a venue still to be determined, rival 140-pound
belt-holders Amir Khan and Timothy Bradley will, according to
Bradley’s promoter Gary Shaw, meet in the ring. The winner will
be recognised as the number-one in the currently talent-rich
light-welterweight division, and a great case can be made for
either guy’s hand being raised.
Khan, 24-1(17) is the faster man, Bradley the physically (and
perhaps mentally) stronger fighter. The only thing now that can
prevent the showdown from taking place as planned, is a Paul
McCloskey upset win over the reigning WBA champ. Khan will meet
the unbeaten McCloskey on April 16th and, according to Shaw,
Khan will then fight Bradley if he has retained his belt. Click Here For More

Franco has achieved
headliner status
By Santos A. Perez - Miami Herald
Progress in Luis Franco’s career can be measured by the slot of
his televised fights on the Showtime network’s Shobox series.
Last year, Franco appeared on the opening fight of two Shobox
telecasts with winning results. Now Franco’s performances and
continued ascent two years since his professional debut have
earned the Miami resident headliner status.
When Showtime debuts its 2011 Shobox series Friday night, Franco
will shed the opening-act label. Franco (8-0, 5 KOs) will face
Mexico’s Leonilo Miranda in a scheduled 10-round featherweight
bout at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, Calif. Click Here For More
Bradley ready for
Pacquiao, Mayweather
By Dan Rafael - ESPN.com
PONTIAC, Mich. -- All the hype and all the hope for a classic
fight between young, undefeated American champions went up in
smoke.
Sure, Timothy Bradley Jr. emerged from his junior welterweight
unification fight with Devon Alexander with two world title
belts after winning a 10th-round technical decision before 6,247
at the Silverdome on Saturday night, but those looking for a
definitive answer to the question of who is the best 140-pounder
in the world did not get one.
It was a close fight all the way with few rounds being won
definitively by either man, but Alexander got the worst of a
series of accidental head butts that changed the fight.
One of them opened a cut over his right eye in the third round,
which referee Frank Garza ruled from a punch, although it was
clearly a head butt on replays. Click Here For More

Antonio DeMarco
Update
By Felipe Leon - fightnews
Lightweight Antonio DeMarco (24-2-1, 18KOs) is not over
confident despite him being the favorite over Reyes Sanchez
(20-3-1, 11KOs) for their WBC Silver championship fight slated
for February 26th in Grand Island, Nebraska. The bout will be
promoted by Gary Shaw Promotions and broadcast by SHOWTIME.
The southpaw DeMarco from Tijuana, MX, by way of boxing hotbed
Los Mochis, described Mexico City’s Sanchez as a deceiving
fighter who is much better than many people tend to believe,
“People have said that I am the favorite but I am not over
confident. He is a dangerous fighter, he applies a lot of
pressure and since my loss to Valero, and I learned that I
shouldn’t be over confident. I am training as if I would be

Promoters for
Alexander-Bradley: Why not Detroit?
By Bob Velin, USA TODAY
The greater Detroit area, smack in the middle of one of the
USA's most economically depressed regions, is not usually high
on the list of destinations for major sporting events these
days.
Which is precisely why boxing promoters Gary Shaw and Don King
insist that it is the most desirable venue for staging their
Jan. 29 "Superfight" — a matchup of undefeated junior
welterweight fighters Devon Alexander (21-0, 13 KOs) and Timothy
Bradley (26-0, 11 KOs).
The fight (HBO, 10 p.m. ET) will be held at the Silverdome, once
the home of Barry Sanders and the Detroit Lions and Isiah Thomas
and the Detroit Pistons.
The Silverdome had fallen into disrepair in recent years before
being purchased by Greek-born Canadian real estate mogul Andreas
Apostolopoulos in 2009 for $583,000, a far cry from the $55
million construction costs when it was built in 1975. The
renovated site reopened last year. Click Here For More

Alexander doesn't
pull any punches
By Robert Morales - presstelegram
Devon Alexander was raised in the rough north St. Louis
neighborhood of Hyde Park, where gangs and drugs were prevalent.
Unlike many of his friends - and a brother who is serving a
prison sentence for robbery - he was able to steer clear of the
worst those streets had to offer.
One might say that a young man containing the wherewithal to do
that has a right to say what he wants. But it was startling to
hear what Alexander had to say about fellow junior welterweight
world champion Amir Khan of England during a conference call
this week promoting Alexander's title unification fight against
Timothy Bradley on Jan. 29 in Detroit (on HBO). Click Here For More

Bradley, Alexander
boxing match enticing
By Matthew Aguilar / Special to the Times
Timothy Bradley and Devon Alexander have an opportunity to start
the 2011 boxing year off with a bang when they unify the junior
welterweight championship Jan. 29 at the Silverdome in Detroit.
Both "Desert Storm" Bradley, 26-0 (11 knockouts), and Alexander
"The Great," 21-0 (13 KOs) are considered two of boxing's young
phenoms, and they deserve credit for making this fight happen.
More often than not, unbeaten fighters avoid one another, either
to hold out for the "money" fight against the division's
superstar, or to build mainstream interest in their pairing down
the road.
Like throwbacks, Bradley and Alexander just signed on the dotted
line. Which is good for the fight fan. For when young,
undefeated fighters meet in the prime of their careers, the
results can be as fascinating as they are unpredictable. Click Here For More
BORGES: It's Time
For Boxing To Create New Heroes
By Ron Borges - thesweetscience.com
In boxing, as in life, timing is everything. Timothy Bradley
figured that out a long time ago.
After being stripped of the WBC light welterweight title for
allegedly ducking Devon Alexander 18 months ago, Bradley was
accused of refusing to risk his future. Alexander went on to lay
claim to the belt Bradley once wore while Bradley cited business
considerations and Alexander’s low profile as the reason he
opted out to pursue what he hoped would be bigger paydays.
As Bradley went off to lay claim to the WBO title but far less
money than he’d hoped, Alexander’s profile grew and now, come
Jan. 29, they will square off in a unification fight in Detroit
that is being talked about as one of the biggest fights between
two American champions in years. If Bradley was ducking anyone
it doesn’t look or sound like it any more. Click Here For More
Undefeated Bradley,

Boxing needs this bout
By Bob Velin, USA TODAY
They are young enough to be considered boxing's new breed, but
Timothy Bradley and Devon Alexander know enough about the
history of their sport to realize what their Jan. 29 junior
welterweight showdown in the Pontiac (Mich.) Silverdome means

Both are undefeated and in their prime, among the top
pound-for-pound fighters, and willing to fight anyone because
they make a point of saying it's what's best for boxing.
Bradley, 27, from Palm Springs, Calif., is 26-0 with 11

that by fighting the best.” Tim compared his and Alexander’s
willingness to put their records on the line with the great

“Incredibly talented,” is how promoter Gary Shaw described
featherweight Luis Franco (8-0, 5 KOs), the Cuban ex-amateur
star and Olympian, when he signed him in October 2010. In fact,
Shaw and manager Henry Foster are so confident in their boxer’s
ability that they have had no qualms about putting the
undefeated Franco in against devastating and experienced Mexican
puncher Leonilo Miranda (32-2, 30 KOs) on February 4th in Santa
Ynez, CA in a bout that will be nationally televised on
SHOWTIME’s “ShoBox: The New Generation.
Among the fighters the 28-year-old Franco defeated in the
amateur ranks (where he compiled a 378-22 record) are fellow
Cuban stars Yuriorkis Gamboa and Erislandy Lara. In view of his
extensive amateur experience, Franco has been moved along very
quickly by his handlers; in only his fifth pro bout, Luis
defeated former title contender Walter Estrada (35-12), followed
by rugged Yogli Herrera (22-11) and prospects Wilton Hilario
(12-1-1) and Eric Hunter (15-1).

successful people to back him to make his dream come true of
winning a world title in the professional ranks. He met Steven
Feder who quickly saw promise in the raw but strong Nigerian and
decided to look after Kayode, such is his promise he has Freddie
Roach training him. If you head to the Wild Card gym in
Hollywood, Ca you will most likely see Kayode hitting the heavy
bag working out vigourously through out the day. His work ethic
is second to none, it’s taken him to 15-0(14) and he’s not
resting on his laurels, he’ll continue to put in the work that
he hopes will see him get to the promised land of a world title.
He next fights on 4 February when he faces Nick Iannuzzi 16-1(9)

bodies ranked WBC 6, WBA 11, IBF 13 & WBO 4. Here’s what the
likeable Nigerian had to say.

Timothy
Bradley-Devon Alexander bout hits Silverdome
By George Kimball - bostonherald
Not that its promoters are likely to pay much attention, but
there is probably a cautionary message implicit in the fact that
the roof at the Minneapolis Metrodome caved in less than a week
after Gary Shaw and Don King announced that the Jan. 29 Timothy
Bradley-Devon Alexander fight would take place at the Silverdome

We’re not exactly comparing apples and oranges in pointing out
that the principal differences between the two venues is that
the onetime home of the Detroit Lions is slightly older and has
an even more sordid history of weather-related calamities than
its sister dome in Minneapolis, which was one reason the Lions
considered it a smart business move to pay. Click Here For More

Kendall Holt Returns
on December 3, Inks With Shaw
By Keith Idec
WOODLAND PARK — Gary Shaw was in Kendall Holt’s opponent’s
corner the night Holt lost the WBO junior welterweight title to
Timothy Bradley.
Nineteen months later, Shaw is determined to help Holt reclaim
his once-prominent place in the loaded 140-pound division.
Holt (25-4, 13 KOs), a Paterson native and Woodland Park
resident, has signed a multi-year promotional pact with Shaw’s
Totowa-based company. The Kennedy High School alum will make his
debut under the Gary Shaw Productions promotional banner Dec. 3

Promoter Gary Shaw
To Be Inducted
Into New Jersey Boxing Hall Of Fame
Garden State-based promoter GARY SHAW will be inducted into the
New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame Thursday night at an awards
dinner to be held at the Venetian in Garfield, NJ. Shaw, who was
inducted into the California Boxing Hall of Fame last year, is
the president and chief executive officer of Gary Shaw
Productions, established in 2002 and based in Totowa, NJ.
“To be inducted into any hall of fame is an honor, but to be
inducted in my home state’s hall of fame is very special. My
professional affiliation with boxing began in New Jersey in 1971
when Jersey Joe Walcott, who was president of the New Jersey
State Athletic Control Commission (NJSAC), appointed me as an
Inspector. I will forever be grateful to him for that because if
not for him, I would not have had the regulatory background that
has been important to me as a promoter,” said Shaw.

The Ring All-Star Report Cards: Timothy Bradley
By Don Stradley -
The Ring
It was out with the old and in with the new as THE RING composed
this year’s All-Star Report Cards. Gone from last year’s survey
are such old warhorses as Bernard Hopkins, Roy Jones, Ricky
Hatton, Shane Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Chris John and Israel
Vazquez. In place of those fighters were newer, fresher names
like Yuriorkis Gamboa and Timothy Bradley, a sign that new blood
is being pumped into the sport. Meanwhile, names like Sergio
Martinez and Pongsaklek Wonjongkam show that our All-Star list
always has room for veterans, provided they’re still producing
in the ring. Click Here For More
Tarver ready to throw down with the big boys

Antonio Tarver could feel the difference when he started
sparring with the big guys. Round after round, punch after
punch, he was taking a heavyweight thumping.
"Even when they don't punch, 230 pounds, they really get you,"
Tarver said, laughing at the kind of punishment that would make
most men cringe.
The former light heavyweight champion will debut in boxing's
former glamour division next weekend, when he fights Nagy
Aguilera at Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Okla. It'll be the
first time that Tarver steps into the ring in more than a year,
when he couldn't stay with the younger and faster Chad Dawson in
a loss that left him pondering retirement or a move to

Super Six event turning into a farce
By Kevin Iole - Yahoo
Andre Dirrell became the latest fighter to withdraw from
Showtime’s ill-fated Super Six World Boxing Classic, pulling out
of the event on Thursday as the result of “neurologic issues” he
has been suffering in the aftermath of his March 27 fight in
Detroit with Arthur Abraham.
Dirrell had been set to fight his U.S. Olympic teammate, Andre
Ward, on Nov. 27 in one of the six-man tournament’s most
high-profile bouts. Dirrell was initially injured when he was
punched by Abraham on the temple while he was down after
slipping in the 11th round of their bout. Dirrell, 27, won by
disqualification to improve his record to 19-1. Dirrell was
taken from the arena on a stretcher that night and later
diagnosed with a concussion.

Kimbo Slice Set To Make Boxing Debut

Debuting as a pro at age 36 in the boxing ring would be most
difficult for even the most stellar athlete in the world. But
any red-blooded male who has frittered away some time on the
internet knows that Kimbo Slice has a pretty darn good idea how

Slice's backyard brawls have done bangup business on YouTube
since 2003, and he leveraged that into a stint in the MMA world.
For the last three years, Slice fought in a cage, with decent
success. He went 4-2, 1-1 in exhibitions, but parted ways with
the UFC after a loss in May. On Thursday night, he told TSS that
he'd be making the leap from the cage to the boxing ring, and
would debut as a heavyweight before the end of the year.

At 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, Dawson is a prototypical light

Pascal's local fans at Bell Centre, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
The 28-year-old Dawson (29-0, 17 knockouts) is looking to turn
in a signature effort against Pascal (25-1, 16 KOs), one he
hopes will lead to bigger fights. Perhaps those will come
against IBF super middleweight (168 pounds) king Lucian Bute
(26-0, 21 KOs), WBA super middleweight titlist Andre Ward (21-0,

"Bad Chad Dawson"
By Mike Katz -
gaming today
There are many signs pointing to an upset, but despite my
penchant for liking underdogs, don’t ask me to navigate around
the big favorite in next Saturday’s HBO feature.
Yes, the ’dog will benefit from being at his adopted home, where
he is undefeated. Yes, the ’dog is a gritty, popular campaigner
whose straight-ahead style is easy to cheer and is usually worth
a round or two.
The chalk is unbeaten, but despite 17 knockouts on his 29-0
record, is not really a major league puncher. Plus, he was
decked in consecutive fights which means his last line of
defense can not be considered as impregnable as you might like
when laying 5-1 odds.

Dawson Hits the Road
By Steve Kim -
maxboxing.com
This Saturday night Chad Dawson faces Jean Pascal for the WBC
light heavyweight championship. And to come away with the green
trinket, he’ll face formidable odds as he’ll be performing in
front of a highly partisan crowd at the Bell Centre in Montreal,
Canada (which has become one of the most robust boxing markets
in the world) that will be cheering for Pascal, a native of
Haiti, who now resides in Quebec.
There is no doubt that Pascal enjoys the home-canvas advantage
in this instance. But it doesn’t seem to really faze Dawson.
"No, I mean, we know the officiating over there is kinda crazy
but, nah, I didn’t have any doubts," said Dawson, when asked if
he had any reservations about going into Pascal’s backyard. "I
know my abilities. I know what I’m capable of; I know what I can
do in the ring. So I’m not worried about anything."

Fans want Pacquiao to take on Bradley

A recent survey revealed boxing's reigning pound-for-pound
champion, Manny Pacquiao, should fight Timothy Bradley next.
Hardcore boxing fans, or at least the majority of those voting

pint-sized destroyers, Bradley and Pacquiao.
Bradley is hedging his bets.
"I want to fight the best fighters in the world. Manny Pacquiao

Hudson Takes “Perro” for a Walk
By Steve Kim - maxboxing
In May of 2009, junior middleweight Alfredo Angulo suffered his
first professional loss against Kermit Cintron, who, despite
being better known as a puncher, boxed and moved his way to a
12-round unanimous decision by scores of 116-112 across the
board. Versus the lateral movement of Cintron, for much of the
night, Angulo’s attempts to corral his foe were as futile as a
dog chasing its own tail.
The book was out on Angulo: move, move and move some more on the
heavy-handed Mexican.
From this point forward, anyone who faces “Perro” would employ
this strategy, which could prove to be a bit of a problem in a
division that boasts the likes of Paul Williams, Miguel Cotto,
Sergio Martinez, Sergiy Dzinziruk, Yuri Foreman and Vanes
Martirosyan, among others. Simply put, fighters who are more
athletic than Angulo.

Bradley believes he can
draw fans if he fights Pacquiao
By Robert Morales, Press Telegram
Not only is Timothy Bradley one of the better pound-for-pound
fighters in the game today, he's also one of the most respected.
It would be difficult to find one person in the industry with
anything negative to say about the overall character of the man.
But that doesn't mean Bradley won't take a stand when his worth
is challenged like it was recently when promoter Bob Arum said
Bradley would not be considered for a fight with Manny Pacquiao.
"Bradley is an excellent fighter, but nobody's ever heard of
him," said Arum, Pacquiao's promoter. "Very few people have
heard of him. It has nothing to do with his abilities. He's a
very able guy. But he hasn't been promoted so that he's like a
household name where he could be a viable pay-per-view
opponent."

any brutal knockdown.
